Canadian Commemorative Series
Starting in 1990, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a series of commemorative two hundred dollar proof gold coins. These are produced in 22 carat (karat) gold, and contain slightly over half an troy ounce of fine gold. According to Krause, there is a slight change in specification from 1993 onwards, but the specification shown on the certificates accompanying the 1990 and 1991 issues show the same specification that Krause shows for the later issues, except that the fine gold content is calculated incorrectly in our Fourth edition of Krause World Gold Coins as being 0.5500 ounces.
We occasionally get them in stock.
Each coin celebrates a different event or object related to Canada
. Each is packaged in a leather wallet with "Canada" and the date gold embossed on its spine and a maple leaf emblem on the front.
