The 2008 gold crowns from the Isle of Man features a Burmilla Cat and her kitten as their reverse design. These are part of the popular cat series of coins, probably started by the Manx cat originally featured some years ago.
Manx Cat Series
Since the release of the first coin in 1988, the Isle of Man Manx Cat series has become one of the most popular gold bullion series in the world. Each coin has depicted a cat or kitten and 2008 sees the issue of another wonderful coin, this time depicting a Burmilla Cat and her Kitten.
Burmilla Cat
The Burmilla is a breed of domestic cat which originated in the United Kingdom in 1981. It is a cross between the Chinchilla Persian and Burmese breeds.
The Burmilla is quite an irreverent and independent cat who adores its owner and displays many kitten-like characteristics even into adulthood. They have a confident, sociable, playful, and affectionate nature, and get along well with children and other animals.
