1994 Canadian Gold Proof $100 Canadian War Museum Commemorative Coin
In 1994 Canada issued gold one hundred dollar commemorative coins to commemorate the Canadian War Museum. The reverse highlights a portion of Canafian srtist Paraskeva Clarks's painting entitled Maintenance Jobs in the Hanger, selected from the Canadian War museum's art collection. The 1945 composition pays tribute to Canadians who proudly contributed to the war effort and home front during the second world war. Portrayed on the coin is a woman performing maintenance work on an aircraft in a hanger. Many woman worked in aircraft construction and maintenance or ventured into other areas, such as munitions factories and voluntary service organizations, all in addition to their usual home duties.
