The quarter ounce gold Britannias have a face value of £25, and weight slightly more than a sovereign, yet they sell for less than the price of a proof sovereign, making them an attractive alternative as a gift. They are also an attractive coin, and have a lower mintage than proof sovereigns, making them interesting for collectors.
They are often released quite late in the year, sometimes August. We are still waiting to here when this year's will be issued.
