Australian Gold Sovereigns
Australia
has issued gold coins since 1852, when South Adelaide issued a gold pound coin. Following this, the Sydney Mint issued Australian sovereigns from 1855 to 1870, and half sovereigns from 1855 to 1866.
Between 1871 and 1931 Australia also produced normal type British gold sovereigns from its branch mints in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. These are listed on our Gold Sovereigns
website.
