Each year the Royal Mint issue a number of quarter ounce gold proof Britannias. The quarter ounce gold Britannias have a face value of £25, and weigh slightly more than a sovereign, yet they sell for less than the price of a proof sovereign, making them an attractive alternative as a gift.
