Third Type 1911 to 1917 Queen Wilhelmina enjoyed a long reign from 1890 to 1948, and four different designs of gold 10 guilder coins issued in this time. The third type was issued between 1911 and 1917 inclusive, although only the four dates shown were issued.
Description
Obverse
The obverse of the fourth issue
shows a long portrait of Queen Wilhelmina facing right, with draped shoulders and a coronet or tiara. Because it reaches to the border, it interrupts the inscription (legend) KONINGEN WILHELMINA GOD ZIJ MET ONS.
Reverse The reverse design, which identical to that of the fourth issue, show a crowned lion bearing a sword and arrows on a large shield surmounted by a large crown. At either side is the denomination 10 G. The legend reads KONINGRIJK DER NEDERLANDEN, and the date appears below the shield. There is a seahorse to the left of the date, and a caduceus to the right.
Guilders, Gulden, and Florins The Dutch monetary unit has various names. In the Netherlands, it is known as a gulden or florin, but English speakers usually refer to it as a guilder.
