Because of the relatively high volumes of gold sovereigns we handle, we can often supply quantities of particular dates, including key dates. Key Dates
A key date coin is one of a series which is either rare, or much less common than most of the other dates in the series. When collectors or dealers pick through a large quantity of coins to form a complete date collection, it is always the "key date" which they find hardest to get. Because of this, we always try to retain any key dates we come across. Sometimes we accumulate a surplus, and rather than either sell than at ordinary bullion rates, or store excessive stocks, we can offer them to investors at modest premiums over normal bullion coin prices, subject to availability.

Semi Key Dates Some dates are not quite as scarce as others, but still not as common as most dates, and these are often referred as semi-key dates.

Common Dates on Quantity
We can also supply any dates of sovereign in quantity. It may seem strange, but we do not keep large stocks of these, but we can supply them to order. Naturally these orders may take some time to fill, as we will almost certainly have to sort through many thousands of coins in order to get together a sufficient quantity of any date.

Random & Spasmodic Occurrence Because sovereigns have not always circulated widely, their distribution tends to be quite uneven. Sometimes we get a batch of 500 sovereigns all the same date, and while this could be good news if we needed that particular date, it would be bad news if we were hoping for a selection, so that we could top up our stocks of a few different dates. It is possible for us to go as long as a year without finding any of a particular common date, then we might get a few hundred in one parcel.
