The Army As Britain prepared for war in 1914, Lord Kitchener's request for people to enlist drew an astonishing response. Families, neighbours and friends who enlisted together were able to fight side by side, in 'Pals Battalions'. They debuted this technique at the Battle of the Somme. The recruitment technique was successful, but the communities the Pals Battalions were recruited from were torn apart.
Royal Mint Prices We have always thought the gold proof two pounds are too expensive for us to purchase them direct from The Royal Mint. We pride ourselves on being able to sell coins at very reasonable and competitive prices. For this reason we only purchase these coins from the secondary market in order to give reasonable prices on collectable coins to our customers.
