2011 Two Pounds Coin - Two Different Designs

Mary Rose

There will be a two pound coin for 2011 to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the launch of the Mary Rose.
Built in 1511, the Mary Rose was the pride and joy of England's Royal Navy during the reign of Henry VIII. It sank in 1545 in the solent before Henry's very eyes from his vantage point at Southsea Castle. Raised in 1982, this ship is one of the most important archeological discoveries ever recovered.

King James Bible

There will be a two pound coin for 2011 to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the King James Bible.
The coin featuring the opening text of the King James Bible. First published in 1611, the King James bible is one of the most important books ever published in the English language. This book influenced the nature of protestant worship in most sects derived from anglophone countries, as well as the Church of England itself.
