Community Hall of Fame While searching eBay for their founder's quote about people basically being honest / good, we found their community / people / hall of fame page, which states:
eBay Values
- We believe people are basically good
- We believe everyone has something to contribute
- We believe that an honest, open trading environment can bring out the best in people
- We recognize and respect everyone as a unique individual
- We encourage you to treat others the way you want to be treated
Sense of Humour?
Either somebody at eBay has a fantastic sense of humour (humor), or they have no sense of humour or irony at all. We suspect it is the latter.
It was difficult to read their eBay values list without smiling or laughing, and thinking of several alternate explanations or extensions of their comments. We decided we should try to share some of them:

The inclusion of the word "basically" is a bit of a giveaway, as in when some teenage killer or tear-away's mother is interviewed and says "Our Kevin is basically a good lad,..."- We believe everyone has something to contribute
Sure, usually via their credit card, debit card, or direct debit in favour of eBay.- We believe that an honest, open trading environment can bring out the best in people
So why run eBay? Closing it down would probably help.- We recognize and respect everyone as a unique individual
So why treat all your users, buyers and sellers alike, as shit?
Why do so many people complain that trying to get any kind of personal individual response from eBay is almost impossible, and totally frustrating?- We encourage you to treat others the way you want to be treated Why don't eBay apply this concept to their way of doing business with their users?
