Austrian 1000 Schillings
One thousand schillings were first issued in 1976 as commemorative coins. Austria has a strong tradition of issuing attractive commemorative coins in a number of different metals and denominations. They are usually superbly produced and artistic. There have been at least eleven different designs and types of gold 1,000 schilling, and at least seven different specifications. In addition, there were half ounce bullion Philharmonikers produced with a face value also of 1,000 schillings.
