In 2003, the Channel Islands issued a set of three gold £5 crowns to honour the twenty first birthday of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales.
The issue limit of each coin was 250 pieces, of which 200 were allocated to these sets, leaving 50 pieces each to be issued separately.
A Trio of Portraits
Each of the three coins issued by the three main islands of Alderney
, Jersey
, and Guernsey
, have a different likeness of the young prince, each in a different style of dress.
Issue Price
We do not actually know the issue price of this set, but believe it was marketed by Westminster Collections, in which case our guess is £2,995; probably payable in 6 "easy" instalments of £499 each, with "interest free" credit.
Despite the fact that gold has increased in value by about 50% since 2003, you could save over £1,000 on this set, buying it from us in one very easy instalment!
