The Bahamas is a small island country. It was a part of the British Colony from 1718 up until 1973, when the British House of Lords voted to give it it's independence.
The Bahamas was declared an independent country on 10th July, 1973. It is officially called the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Design
The obverse of the coin features the national arms - "COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS 1978". The reverse shows Prince Charles with the text, "FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE 10 JULY 1973. 1978".
Mintage
The coin is struck with a proof finish and has a mintage of 3,275.
