In 1975 Gibraltar issued a set of 3 gold proof coins for the 250th Anniversary of the Introduction of British Sterling Currency.
Although the mintage of this proof set is nowhere near as low as many other proof sets, as at Jun 2008, we had only ever seen and owned one of these sets.
Designs
The designs on the reverse of all three coins were by engraver Michael Rizzello.
The £100 bears the Coat of Arms of Gibraltar, with its motto on a ribbon:
MONTIS INSIGNIA CALPE (The insignia or badge of the rock of Gibraltar), with the value:

The £50 coin has a crowned and enthroned figure of a queen (Elizabeth II?), holding a young child who is also crowned, with the value below, this time all in words:FIFTY POUNDS
The £25 coin features a lion (guardant?) holding a key, with the value below:
