1972 saw the Silver Wedding Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
There were nationwide celebrations and special events, including street parties.
A number of souvenir and commemorative items were produced, some official such as coins and stamps.
Hallmark Replicas in collaboration with the Post Office, issued medallic replica stamps in gold and silver, of the official commemorative stamps issued that year. These had denominations of three pence and twenty pence.
The twenty pence stamp replica was, fittingly, issued in 22ct gold, while the three pence stamp was issued in sterling silver.
Presentation The medallic stamp replicas were issued in a white leatherette covered box, and accompanied by a serially numbered certificate.
