In 1972 Jersey issued 2 coin sets, 1 proof, 1 uncirculated, both with 5 gold & 4 silver coins, to celebrate the silver wedding anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The island of Jersey and the other Channel Islands represent the last remnants of the medieval Dukedom of Normandy that held sway in both France and England. As such, they have owed direct allegiance to the British Crown for over 700 years. Jersey has issued its own coins since 1847.

Silver Wedding Anniversary
To celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, the States of Jersey issued its first ever gold coins, contained in these coin sets.In each set, there are five gold coins, and four silver coins.
The proof set was issued in a fitted blue cloth covered wooden box, with white satin and red velvet lining, while the uncirculated set was issued in a fitted blue plastic box with white satin and blue velvet lining.

Designs
Reverses

  • Gold Fifty Pounds
    The Arms of the Bailiwick of Jersey, three golden lions, are derived from the Royal Arms.
  • Gold Twenty Five Pounds
    The Royal Arms of 1593, taken from Elizabeth Castle in St. Aubin's Bay
  • Gold Twenty Pounds
    Ormer (Haliotis Tuberculata). A gastropod mollusc, and a great local delicacy. Its name is thought to be a corruption of the French Oreille de Mer.
  • Gold Ten Pounds
    A gold torque (or torc). A bronze age relic discovered during excavations in St Helier in 1889.
  • Gold Five Pounds
    Lesser white-toothed shrew, which is found in the Channel Islands but not on the British mainland.
  • Silver Two Pound Fifty Pence
    Lobster (Homarus Vulcaris). Another local delicacy and major export.
  • Silver Two Pound
    Alexandra, a 306 ton barque, built in Jersey and registered in 1865.
  • Silver One Pound
    Jersey Lily. Not an infamous bar-room character, but a flower, the Amaryllis Belladonna, originally form South Africa.
  • Silver Fifty Pence
    The Royal Mace of Jersey, presented to Jersey by King Charles II in 1663.

Obverse
The obverse designs all bear the "second" portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, by Arnold Machin, as used on British decimal coins, with the legend:
